Wills & probate

Getting your affairs in order, and helping families through the administration afterwards.

Making a will

Most wills are straightforward, and we price them that way. We’ll ask about your family, your property and anything you want handled in a particular way, then draft something that reflects it in plain terms.

Review it every five years

A will that no longer matches your circumstances can cause more trouble than none at all. We’ll write to you every five years to check nothing needs changing — and minor amendments are free for existing clients.

Lasting powers of attorney

An LPA lets someone you trust make decisions if you can’t. There are two: one for property and finances, one for health and welfare. They can only be set up while you still have capacity, which is why leaving it is the most common mistake we see.

Probate and estate administration

When someone dies, the estate has to be valued, any inheritance tax paid, the grant obtained and the estate distributed. It’s a lot of admin at the worst possible time, and families often want to hand over some or all of it.

Two ways to do it

You may not need a solicitor at all

For a modest estate with a clear will and no property to sell, many families manage the process themselves through the Probate Registry. We’ll tell you on the first call if we think that’s your situation.
